After The Rain written by: Rachel Shortt She loves the way it smells in Ohio after the rain She loves her family and her friends but, she can't stand the pain So she keeps walking even though her feet are sore Her hands are dirty and her jeans are torn She just keeps going, She going to show them all She loves the way New York looks in the fall She loves the city lights, all the people and she can hear the call So she keeps walking even though her feet are sore her hands are bleeding and her jeans are torn she just keeps going, she's got everything to prove A little town in Tennessee and she can feel the stare But their eyes don't pierce her She never really cared So she keeps walking even though her feet are sore her hands are bleeding and her jeans are torn she just keeps going, she's got everything to prove She loves the way it smells in Ohio after the rain She will always love her family and her friends but, she can't stand the pain... No So she keeps walking even though her soul's worn thin Her hands are bleeding and her knees are skinned She just keeps going, She's going to show them all

April's Fool 06:34
April's Fool Written By: Rachel Shortt It's not easy coming to the realization, that I might have to let you go It's not easy coming to the realization, That I might be better off alone Humming It's not easy watching you slip away with her, It's not easy, knowing your not mine It's not easy watching walk away with her, It's not easy, out on this line Humming It's not easy letting go of something so beautiful, it's not easy to set you free of my love No, it's not easy moving up and out and on with this It's not easy letting this go Humming It's not easy coming to the realization, that I might have to let you go It's not easy coming to the realization, That I might be better off alone

Woe 07:53
Woe Written By: Rachel Shortt Maybe It was my fault this time Maybe I’m the one to blame But baby You can’t say I never tried And I’m Sorry That it ended this way Yeah lately There’s nowhere to hide Love is empty Drifting Away And baby I’m hurting inside, inside Please know that This isn’t easy to say Baby this is my confession It’s not easy To watch you slip away I’m just trying to Scrub myself clean now And I’m Sorry That it ended this way, this way Maybe I’m like a broken record of emotion Skipping back and forth throughout time Between my elation and devotion Maybe it seems like I Can’t stay in one place Just know that you always Know that you always will Have a piece of my heart And maybe It was my fault this time Since when is being human a crime Yeah since when is Being human A crime

Well, maybe I'm not the romantic I once was but, I'll tell you baby this isn't just because There are plenty of things in this world left to do but, none of them could make me happier than you Nothing compares, nothing compares... I'm so far from centered and I'm sick of going on benders My heart is broken, tender, and blue I'm messed up and jaded but, you make me feel elated No, nothing compares to my love for you Nothing compares, Nothing compares... Well, I've been a fool for love and I've worn my heart on my sleeve I've done things for love you couldn't possibly believe I've taken love's blows and I keep coming back for more I've been the sinner, the saint, the lover and the whore Nothing compares, nothing compares... Well, maybe I'm not the romantic I once was but, I'll tell you baby this isn't just because There are plenty of things in this world left to do but, none of them could make me happier than you No, none of it could make me happier than you Nothing compares, nothing compares, nothing compares...

Reflections of Love Written By: Rachel Shortt (Verse) Every time that you look at me to tell me I'm amazing It's only because you see the reflection of yourself in my eyes Every time that your voice rings out, to tell me that you love me You don't know it but the words you speak have changed my life (Humming a tune of gratitude) (Verse) You know I meant it when I told you that I wanted the world to know You are my heart, my life, my love, my passion, my soul It may have taken me a little while to put it down in this song Now that I have found my rhythm, I won't stop until your singing along (Humming a tune of gratitude) (Verse) Yes every time that you here this sound, I hope you can be proud of me 'Cause you know that my rhythm is the reflection of my life Yes every time that you hear this song I hope you can be proud of me And know that the way you've touched me saved my life (Continues Humming a tune of gratitude) Yes, Every time that you look at me to tell me I'm amazing It's only because you see the reflection of yourself in my eyes

about

Raw & unplugged, Live @ The SCA is a journey into the stories and original songs of indie artist Rachel Shortt. Recorded in front of a live audience during the Summer in the studio series at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts in Michigan, every pop, hiss and tiny nuance left just as it is.

This collection of songs represents the last few years of the young troubadour's dance with life, love and the struggle of balancing ones passions, offering an emotional and intimate look into the mind of the singer songwriter.
